How do panthers show?

29/1/2018

Today we circulated the classroom sharing what we thought we would physically do when we were feeling a certain way. Hopefully, instead of saying that Courtney was worried, we could say that her face turned pale and her hands began to shake.

characterisation

To develop our characters well it is essential that we describe them in lots of different ways. One of the best ways to do this is to "show not tell." Drop clues about the character: how do they behave, what do they say, what do others think/say about them? It is much more effective to show than tell.

Keeping inside lines

Keeping within the lines is very restrictive but also helps to develop control. For most of the Panthers they had to select one colour but use a white to create tints of that colour. Some achieved this more successfully than others. This calendar will be visible in the Hall once complete. The images are days of the fascinating sacred Mayan calendar. There are a few that show daily Mayan life or Gods.

Today we took our first steps. Fortunately they weren't meek, tentative steps but encouragingly bold and confident steps.  The focus of today was understanding what a plot was. Now we've all heard of someone losing the plot, but what was the plot that they lost?
Essentially there are seven plots that any story could fit within. I have listed below six. They say comedy is one but I think all of these plots could be written with an element of comedy.
Due date for this is the middle of next month so there's plenty of time to.
Here are some good examples from previous years.

As all teachers, parents, grand parents, uncles, aunties and pets will tell you - YOU'VE GOT TO LEARN YOUR TIMES TABLE OFF BY HEART!!!!!!
Yes. It's true. The quicker, the better.
So. Check out the numeracy page of this site. The multiplication activity is excellent. You can focus on just one factor or do the whole lot. It depends on what you need.
The Khan Academy page is also excellent.

Inspired by Ted Hughes' Iron Man, we wrote our own - The Glass Boy. Panthers worked really hard to include similes, onomatopoeia and personification. Leave a comment. Let us know what you think.
