We're combining maths with Romans for the first couple of days. Today we are learning what each letter represents. The children did an excellent job of solving cryptic messages and completing a puzzles.
It's really useful to remember this mnemonic:
I Value Xylophones Like Cows Do Milk
Below is an excellent video to help you understand the Roman numeral system.
I hope all panthers have returned to school with bright eyes and sharpened claws fresh from their break. This term looks set to be full of change and exciting learning opportunities. I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Mr Wills and I have taken the place of Mrs Pitt, teaching on Thursdays and Fridays. As your children have probably already told you I am from New Zealand and have previously taught in the UK between 2004 and 2006 where I met my wife, moved to New Zealand, then returned to Norwich in 2014. I hope to continue the good work of Mrs Pitt and ensure that your children will continue to have fun, rich and rewarding learning opportunities.
This site is new! Hope you like it. As a parent you'll be able to follow the learning of the children through photos, videos, examples of their writing and thoughts. As a young panther, you will be able to access links on the literacy and numeracy pages designed to help you make leaps and bounds in your learning. The sites I have chosen are designed to allow you to continue your learning as you grow and are not restricted to being suitable for your current age. Khan Academy, for example, will be used to develop your numeracy skills but can be continued all the way through to GCSE. Children will be given login details for Khan Academy. Links will also appear in the sidebar to the right of this post to sites that are relevant to current learning in other subjects.
I encourage parents to leave positive comments on any of the posts and if your children want to do so as well they are more than welcome. I will show the children how to leave kind and positive comments in class.
I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting the children and look forward to meeting parents soon.
We're a class of year 3/4 children from Kenninghall in Norfolk.
