Another leap into the world of creative, abstract art. You could call it Kandinskyish.

It was thought that this film was lost amongst the many iPads that we have at school but fortunately the iPad fell back into our hands and there it was in the camera roll. This was from the previous half term when we were learning about the science in toys. The children had to recreate the classic woodpecker with a different theme.

Early morning writing

Once a week, at the start of the day the children are challenged to write freely about an image on the screen. Often they are mystical, bizarre, highly photo shopped images that prick the imagination. This one particularly appealed to Everleigh.

This was no ordinary library and Lucy and was no ordinary girl. Piles of books scattered around her. Begging her to read every one of them. Books of her imagination floating in the city. The books surrounded her like they loved being read. Big books, old fashioned books, and fairy-tale books. Sitting on a blue chair reading all different coloured books. The books formed into little houses. It was like a little village. Reading one book then the other, she never tired of reading.

All of the children are thoroughly enjoying The Firework Maker's Daughter by Philip Pullman. They're all predicting how it is going to end. Will Lila save her father's life?
The BBC has produced fifty five clips that preview highly recommended stories. This is a great way to see if the story would appeal to you.
