Yesterday, ten of the Panthers represented the school at the Cross Country event at Fritton Lake, close to Great Yarmouth.
The year three girls ran first. Kitty came third and Alice came about thirty something and Sophie came twelfth.
The year three boys did very well also. Sid came third. He said it was a bit muddy with lots of mosquitoes and quite a few twigs about. The track was quite large. They had to do just one big lap rather than lots of little laps like at school. It was very slippery. Evan came further down the field and at the end he was waving while lots of people cheered. Harry Clark finished thirteenth. He said the course was quite narrow at times.
The year four girls were nervous at the start until Miss Harmishaw gave them chocolate. Evie took off first and ended up finishing eighth and Lily fifteenth. Connie slipped at the start and had some problems with her knee but was happy to receive more chocolate at the end.
Alex and Levi had to wait a while and prepared themselves by stretching, a group hug and selfies. After running 1200m over a slippery course Levi found himself at the front and ended up coming second. It was a bit controversial because he was kicked by the person who came first. Because of this, that boy was disqualified and Levi was awarded first place. Alex did very well also to finish thirtieth after falling and being held back.
Going through to the next round are Sid, Levi, Evie and Kitty. This will be held at Holkham Hall in February next year. Fantastic effort.
We're a class of year 3/4 children from Kenninghall in Norfolk.
